Buffin Farm was the bucolic setting for our August potluck ‘lunch with the llamas’. We were delighted to have Jeani-Rose Atchison (author of Everyday Vegan, 300 Recipes for Healthful Eating) and her family attend one last potluck before relocating to Australia.

Curried Garbanzos with Chard again? People enjoyed our repeat performance at the Second Annual Yoga Festival. We did well in our fundraising, with thanks to Ram Dhan, Tom Merrill, Jody Erb, Carol Chowen, Karalyn Dorn, and Scott Chausse, and to Sundrop Grocery for their donations.

Our superb September potluck included a veggie swap, live musical entertainment and a showing of the video of ‘Meet Your Meat’ after a scrumptious meal with friends old and new.

Our July Vegetarian Stew radio show interviewed Jen Keller, R.D., of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, on the topic of nutrition and on Breaking the Food Seduction, a new book by Neal Barnard, M.D. In August we spoke with Jan Hamilton, Director of Wilderness Ranch Farm Animal Sanctuary, learning of their compassionate mission to both rescue farm animals and to educate the public about the respect due to these sentient beings. Salad and dessert will be provided.
