President's Message
Volunteer Opportunities and Elections
Now is your opportunity to get involved in the management of
the Vegetarian Society of Colorado. We will be holding our bi-annual VSC Board
Elections in January. Each Region has a board seat and the following positions
will be available as of December 31st.
As you read through the positions, consider that the VSC is
an ALL Volunteer Organization. If you have an interest in a position, please
contact me at joe@vsc.org, and be prepared to
submit a paragraph about why you are qualified for the position for the next
newsletter.
Because these are immediate openings, we are also looking for
people to help with the transition as people leave the positions in December,
and new people assume the position in January-February.
President & Vice President
If any of the following positions are not filled, I will be
resigning as President to fill the position. The Presidential duties may be less
than you might imagine and worth considering. Coordinate efforts of the VSC and
execute the VSC Mission. If you have a desire to drive change, this position is
for you.
Treasurer
This is perhaps the most important position for a non-profit
organization such as the VSC, and perhaps the least visible. Duties include a
quarterly financial report, reimbursement checks, gift certificates, and
managing the VSC’s resources.
If you always seem to win at Monopoly, this position may be
right for you. Contact Kathy Yernberg for details.
Newsletter Editor
Here’s your opportunity to use your creative talent
assembling this newsletter; Vegetarian Living! You’ll receive articles from
our regular contributors and send the file to our printer. Contact Anita Iannone
for details.
Membership Secretary
You can maintain the Membership Database within the VSC
Website server, send letters to members before their membership expires, and
provide a list of existing organizations that are members of the VSC to the
Communications Director.
You can come up with new ideas by extracting statistical
information from our database, conducting surveys of our members to get opinions
and demographics, or to find trends in membership for ways to increase
membership.

Volunteer Coordinator
Keep a list of volunteers and coordinate activities where VSC
Volunteers meet the general public face to face, such as tabling events,
clean-up projects, etc. It’s a real people-person kind of Job. Contact Joe

Merchandise Manager
Coordinate all the books, bumper stickers, buttons, T-Shirts,
pamphlets, and literature we have. You could be the store manager of the Virtual
VSC Merchandise Store on our website. Contact Stephanie Slavick for details.

nonprofit, tax exempt, all-volunteer organization, which educates the public
about healthful, humane, and environmentally responsible plant-based
alternatives to meat-centered diets.
