HEALTH Events

Attention Friends:

This notice is to let you know that the HEALTH Campaign will be having a Spring Fling on 8 June 2002, to raise funds to purchase a Faunette, to use for education.

A Faunette is a portable TV/VCR, with wheels and it's own power source.  The HEALTH Campaign has several educational tables and events throughout the year and a Faunette would be VERY useful.  This unit will also be used for RMAD events and protests and may be checked out for use by other animal, vegetarian and environmental groups in the Denver/Boulder area, when not used by HEALTH or RMAD.  There will be no need to have a power source nearby, so it will also be less expensive to have videos at events, such as outdoor festivals.

Instead of just asking for donations, we thought it would be fun to have a Spring Fling, so you can enjoy your donation.  We will have a cookout (all plant-based),  volleyball, horseshoes, beer, soda, and also music and games inside.  Everyone is invited and kids are welcome.  Volunteers are needed.  If you are good at planning games or gathering donations of food, please let me know at the number below.

Where:  Indian Hills Community Center, up Hwy 285, 4 miles from C-470, take the Parmalee Gulch Road exit, go 1 mile and the center is on the left.

When:  Saturday 8 June 2002, from noon till were too tired to move.

Cost:  A $10 donation for adults age 13 and up: $5 ages 6-12; 5 & under - FREE

Please RSVP NOT LATER THAN 4 June 2002.  Leave your name, the number of people in your party, ages and your telephone number at 303-697-5024, or just send an e-mail with your information to anns@rmad.org

Please plan to spend the day with us for this good cause and invite your friends.

Wear your coolest Hawaiian or Spring attire!!!

HEALTH (Humans, Earth, Animals, Living Together in Harmony) advocates a plant based diet and endeavors to increase public awareness about the resulting benefits for human health, the global environment, and animal welfare.  HEALTH upholds it's objectives by providing current research and information, and by sponsoring supportive social events that foster community and the sharing of ideas.  Through these activities, HEALTH spreads knowledge that enables individuals to make informed lifestyle decisions.

HEALTH Potlucks: Sundays, 5 May, 2 June 2002, at 5:30 PM and Thursday the 4th of July 2002 at 4 PM.  See special directions for the 4th, below regular potluck directions.

Location for May and June: We will be meeting at the Highlands United Methodist, located on the corner of 32nd and Oceola, between Sheridan and Federal, in Denver.

When you get to the church, enter the double doors on the East side of the building, on Oceola and check the orange board to your right just inside to find out which room we will be using.

Directions:

From the S.E., take Federal, North to 29th.  Turn left (West) on 29th to Oceola and turn Right (North).  Just before 32nd you will see the Church on the left and a parking lot on the right.  You may park in the lot if there's room.  You can also take Speer Blvd., North to 32nd, then turn Left (West).

From the N.E., take Federal, South to 32nd.  Turn Right (West) on 32nd to Oceola, the lot will be on your left.

From the West, take Sheridan to 32nd and turn East to Oceola.  The Church and lot will be on your right.

32nd, runs East from 13th and Ford in Golden all the way to Oceola, for those of you coming from Golden or the west side of town.  It changes from 13th to 32nd somewhere behind the Coors plant.   Travel East on 13th and just stay on the main road.

For the potluck, bring a plant-based dish (no meat, fish fowl, dairy, eggs, honey or other animal derived products) to serve at least 8 people.  A plant-based dish can be as simple as, cut up fruits or veggies or a bottle of natural apple juice to share.  If you are new to the group, please to come as our guest and let us feed you.  Those comfortable with plant based, please feel free to show off, dazzle us with your talent and bring extra

if you like.  Also bring a serving utensil, your own place setting, your own drink and a recipe card (with some extras to share), listing the ingredients in your dish (Please note on your recipe card if your dish contains any hydrogenated oils),
.

We will be collecting a small donation (what you can afford) for the rent.  They usually charge a $65 fee per use but are being so kind to let us donate what we collect.

Take our cell numbers along in case you get lost, 303-887-4069 or 303-807-1886.  Questions?  Call RMAD at 303-449-4422 and leave a message for Ann.

Attention, 4th of July:  The potluck for July will be on the 4th at a special location.  Please join us for our annual 4th of July picnic/party at the Indian Hills Park.

Please bring a plant-based dish, etc (see above), your family and friends, a lawn chair and a blanket, if you plan to stay for the fireworks, that are put on at dark by the Fire Department.  We will meet at 4 PM, eat at 5, then play/chat until the fireworks begin.

To get there, take Hwy 285 into the mountains, about 4 miles past C-470.  Take the Parmalee Gulch exit.  Turn right and go about 3 miles.  The park will be on the left across from the Fire Station.
