Boulder EventsOrganic Seed Planting 101When: May 12th 2002 @ 6pm Wanna learn how to start your own organic vegetables and organic herbs? Even if you don’t have room outdoors, indoor gardening, patio gardening or window-sill gardening (as it is sometimes called) can be an enjoyable process from the startup. Learn creative techniques on how to start such a garden so you can rely on your own fresh herbs and vegetables this year. This is going to be a hands-on workshop, so be prepared to get your hands in the dirt. It can be a fun, learning activity to share with others including (or especially!) children. We’ll provide the soil, containers and seeds. You provide the energy and love to nurture the seeds in their start-up. To celebrate Mother’s Day, everyone takes home their own planted creation. Meet outside on the patio of Jamba Juice. We’ll plant outdoors and eat indoors. If everyone would bring a vegetarian dish to share with others and his/her own table setting (plate, fork), we’ll provide the rest. Happy Gardening! Hiking the Indian Peaks WildernessWhen: June 9, 2002 either at 7:30am for the hike or at 4:00pm for the potluck Jasper Lake/Devils Thumb Lake is what we’ll be hiking. Starting elevation is 9,000 feet and the highest elevation is around 11,200. The distance is 6 miles each way. This hike will take us high up in the Indian Peaks Wilderness to Devils Thumb Lake just below Devils Thumb – a magnificent rock outcropping along the Continental Divide. We’ll meet at our house for orange juice, soy lattes and granola at 7:30am and then leave for the town of Eldora (car pool) for our ascent. If you’re a hiker and want to make the trip, give me a call and I will give you directions to our house. If not and you still want to come up to Nederland for the potluck, then come on up. The potluck will be on our back deck and we’ll be cooking up veggie kabobs on the grill starting at 4pm. Just bring a veggie dish to share and we’ll provide the rest. Happy Hiking! |
