Grand Junction Area Branch News

Our December and January vegetarian lunches and potlucks were all quite tasty events.  We also hosted two 'Vegetarian Stew' radio shows on KAFM 88.1 community radio, one with author Jeani-Rose Atchison continuing a discussion of her newest book, Everyday Vegan, 300 Recipes for Healthful Living.  The second had hosts Carol Lamm, Eric Johanson, and Marian Dorn stirring up the audience about 'The Hazards of Dairy' with our knowledgeable guest, Dr. Eric Atchison.  One caller stewed about remarks that milk contains pus cells.  Future topics include:  the Politics of Food Production, March 4, and Community Supported Agriculture on April 15.  Turn on, tune in, join in for our future events!

Calendar:
Wednesday, March 13, Noon, Pre-Great American Meat Out Event!  Lunch at Coyote Cafe, 2935 North Avenue (this is not our usual 'first Wednesday of the month lunch', but the second Wednesday.)  The students at Mesa County School District Career Center's Coyote Cafe will prepare a special vegetarian lunch for us, also open to the public.  We will have Meat Out recipes and literature available.

Sunday, March 17, Potluck, Gather 5:30, eat at 6:00 at the Church of Religious Science, 1622 Glenwood Ave.  Another Pre-Great American Meat Out Event!  Bring your meat eating friends and your favorite vegetarian dish!  Let's show them how tasty and easy vegetarian eating really is!

Wednesday, April 3, Noon lunch at Chez Lena, 2508 Blichman Ave.

Sunday, April 21, Potluck, Gather 5:30, eat at 6:00 at the Church of Religious Science, 1622 Glenwood Ave.  VSC members Carol Lamm and Thom Mogg will speak on Community Supported Agriculture.
