VSC Board Elections -- VSC to dissolve? 

Only six people have indicated a willingness to serve on the VSC Board: Steve Billig, Pria Acharya, Mark Laity-Snyder, Marian Dorn, Kate Lawrence, and Keith Akers.  Since there are a maximum of 14 positions available, the elections are a formality and the new board will take over after January 6.  Thanks to the retiring (and recently retired) board members: Audress Johnson, Jessica Anderson, and Joe Gierlach.  Your help and understanding is appreciated.   

This is not a good situation, as several board members want to scale back or eliminate their involvement with the VSC.  If you want the VSC to continue, you need to volunteer to help out now.  (For a complete list of positions we are looking for volunteers for, click here.)  We remain open to new volunteers coming forward to help with the work of the group, either by serving on the board or in other capacities.  However, if no new volunteers or board members come forward, we may begin looking at alternatives, such as dissolving the VSC. 

Ironically, the VSC is doing pretty well both financially and in terms of members.  We have over $4000 in the bank and about 300 members, which has remained stable for the last couple of years.  The VSC's only problem is in getting volunteers to run the organization.
