Grand Junction Area Branch
News and Calendar
In October our efforts to educate the public took the form of tabling at the
local 'Senior Resource Fair', and giving out samples of Tofuna which was donated
by Sundrop Grocery. It's always a thrill to have folks say they had never tried
tofu before, and that they like it!
"How to make a raw carrot cake disappear" was a part of the magic of
author Jeani-Rose Atchison's presentation at our October potluck. We are
looking forward to the January release of her new book 'Everyday Vegan,'
including the recipe and much more inspiration towards conscious living.
November's 'Turkey Free Potluck' enjoyed a fine turnout of excellent cooks and
hungry diners. A great time was had by all!
Jeani-Rose Atchison was busy again, this time displaying a 'UnTurkey' on TV 's
KKCO Channel 11, and informing the public about alternatives for a 'Gentle
Thanksgiving.' Next, she was interviewed on the debut of 'Vegetarian
Stew,' our new community radio show, on KAFM 88.1 FM Grand Junction. Hosted
by Eric Johanson and Marian Dorn, Jeani-Rose spoke eloquently while her fifteen
day old daughter Nemue cooed in the background. We are looking forward to
future interviews, 'name that vegetable' trivia question, and more discussion of
vegetarian topics. Join us if you are in the area!
